Water Fed Pole: Improving Safety and Standards

I have invested in a Water Fed Pole window cleaning system, which will enable me to include the frames, sills and vents as standard part of my service. This improves safety and reduces the risk of potential damage to your property.

Water Fed Poles are now common place in the window cleaning industry, which is perfect for removing the regular build up of dust and dirt from the windows. Due to the frames being thoroughly scrubbed and rinsed during this process, areas of the window including vents are cleaned to a higher standard than would normally be delivered using traditional methods.

How it works

Tap water from your house will have dissolved solids in the water. If you were to spray your windows with plain tap water, those dissolved solids would would be left behind as the H20 evaporates, causing spotting on the glass. However by using purified water, where those impurities in the water have been removed, the glass is left spotless.

Still Feeling sceptical?

You not alone, I have had plenty of conversations over the years from customers who have called me because they are not keen on there last window cleaner who used Water Fed Poles.

I have personally cleaned my own windows with a WFP for the last few years, with great results. So what’s the problem? I think it boils down to three things;

  • Operator Error ~ WFPs are a tool, just like a squeegee, if its not used correctly you will get poor results.
  • Expectations ~ Just like traditional window cleaning, Water Fed Poles are a light cleaning method, and wont remove everything. I can always detail the window with a more aggressive cleaning method, if a mark isn’t coming off, the customer just has to get in touch.
  • Poor Communication ~ Water Fed Poles are becoming more common, and most customers will have heard of them, but may not understand how the technology works, and still have a bit of scepticism towards the cleaning method. Better communication can help address this.

Why the change

Safety is the biggest advantage to using Water Fed Poles, it reduces the risk of injury and potential damage to your property. This method also improves efficiency, and reduces downtime as it can be used in higher winds, which ultimately brings down the cost of our service.
