February Storms

We have lost a few days this week to the persistent high winds and showers through the week. It is fairly typical for this time of year. We have been out over the weekend this week to get as many accounts up to date as possible.

Gourock

I currently have a little left to complete in Cardwell Bay, and next week I will hopefully finish the remaining work in Gourock, weather Permitting. Last week we lost a day to Storm Chandra, but thankfully the West of Scotland, faired better than some parts of the UK. It was the end of January last year we had storm Eowyn, were we seen 70mph winds, that brought down trees, and caused a lot of damage to buildings. One of the worst storms I have seen in my lifetime.

The move to digital enquiries

The move to digital enquiries

One thing we haven't always been great at, is monitoring our answer machine. Landlines enquiries, aren't that common for us anymore, with most of the our enquiries coming directly through our website. So this year, we thought we would change that, to make sure our customers get a faster response from us. What is changing Message us directly Our landline answer machine will no longer be monitored, instead, it will be managed through WhatsApp. Allowing you to send us a direct message, that we can respond to on the go. 5 things that keep us reliable

5 things that keep us reliable

It's a common complaint we hear when talking to new customers, 'our last window cleaner hasn't been in months, they show up once in a blue moon'. Here are five of the things we do to ensure we deliver a reliable window cleaning service. 1. We don't over promise We describe our service as a monthly service, every 4 to 5 weeks, and our customers should receive around 10 cleans per year, once staff holidays are taken in to account. This sets an expectation with our customers that we can deliver. 2. We'll keep in touch Keeping in touch is…

The shift to cashless

The shift to cashless

When we first started our window cleaning business back in 2007, cash was King. Almost all small transactions would have been paid by cash, and giving your bank card to your window cleaner would have seemed risky. Now the days of finding change down the side of the couch, or in the rubber seal of the washing machine door are all but gone, with fewer and fewer people carrying cash. Other ways to pay In 2010 we started accepting cheque as an alternative payment method, and a few larger commercial customers paid by BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing System), then in…

Our tip for cleaning shower doors

Our tip for cleaning shower doors

Shower doors can get quite badly marked with hard water stains over time. So we thought we would share our secret weapon for detailing with tough marks on glass. This method will also work well for other tough residue left on glass, and is our go to method for detailing with any glue or silicone left on glass by window fitters. Step 1 Soak up the glass with thick soapy water. A squirt of fairy liquid straight on to a damp scourer pad will work well. Step 2 Buff the glass with Grade #0000 ultrafine steel wool. Aka our secret…

Should you clean windows when its raining?

Should you clean windows when its raining?

Myth or fact? I can't tell you how many times I have heard, 'You should't clean windows when its raining'. I have also heard 'you shouldn't clean windows when its sunny'. We maintain the cleanliness of our customers windows year round, and although they will get a little build up of dirt between cleans, they certainly wont get significantly dirty, rain or shine. I can see where this myth comes from, so its not completely false. However its certainly not a waste of time cleaning windows when its raining. Its a well proven fact that having a clean and tidy…
